Do not send a completed CF 456. A filled form is protected personal information about a named member, and there is no reason the developer needs to see one. Describe the problem instead, or send a screenshot with the candidate's details covered.

The exported form looks blank

This is the most common report, and it is almost always the previewer rather than the app. The CF 456 is an Adobe XFA form, and XFA renders correctly only in Adobe Acrobat Reader. The iOS Files preview, Quick Look, Safari and Preview on a Mac all show a near-blank fallback page instead.

Open the exported PDF in the free Acrobat Reader app and the fields will be there. If it is still blank in Acrobat, that is a real bug — please write.

Before you write

Including these makes a bug fixable on the first exchange rather than the third:

• Your device and iOS version — Settings › General › About
• Which screen you were on, and what you were trying to do
• What you expected, and what happened instead
• For an export problem, what you opened the PDF in
• A screenshot, with any candidate details covered

The candidate's half

Candidates do not install anything. You send them either the fillable PDF — which they complete on any device, including an iPhone or iPad — or the intake page, which needs a computer because iOS will not run the page's scripts. What comes back differs accordingly: the PDF returns as a file, the page returns as a CF456# code you paste in.

A returned PDF can be shared straight into the app from Mail, Teams, Files or AirDrop — choose ICP Toolkit from the share sheet and it imports on the spot.

Questions about the rules

The app computes the overall grade, the expiry date, the classification and the remarks from the FOM and the NDFO. If you think a computed result is wrong, that is worth writing about — include the grades you entered, the dates, and what you expected. Those rules are testable, and a genuine error gets fixed.

What the orders themselves should say is a different question, and one for the DICP and your chain of command rather than this address.

Requirements

iOS 17 or later, on iPhone or iPad. Everything runs on the device with no signal required. An iCloud sign-in is optional and carries only your organisation and signing-authority defaults between your own devices — never form or candidate data.

Adobe Acrobat Reader, free from the App Store, is needed to view and sign the exported CF 456.

Feature requests

Welcome, and genuinely read. The app is deliberately narrow — it completes one form properly — so the honest answer to most requests is no. Knowing what people are actually trying to do with it still changes what gets built next.

Response time

This is a one-person operation run around a flying job. Most email gets a reply within a week. If something is badly broken, say so in the subject line and it'll jump the queue.
