Privacy Policy

Claimant does not collect your information: everything you enter stays on your device, and in your own private iCloud account if you turn that on — the developer never sees it.

What the app collects

Claimant stores only what you enter, and it stores it on your device. That includes trip details, itineraries, lodging, expenses, receipts and other attachments, and your profile — name, rank, service number, and similar fields.

Three system permissions are used, each only for the feature it names, and each optional:

• Camera — to scan a receipt you choose to add.
• Photo library — to attach a receipt image you select.
• Location — to fill in your current location when you close out a travel leg, so your itinerary builds itself.

Anything captured this way is saved with your trip on your device. You can decline any of these permissions and still use the app. Claimant has no accounts and no developer-operated servers, so none of this is collected by the developer.

What leaves your device

By default, nothing. Your data stays on the device where you entered it.

If you sign in to iCloud and turn on iCloud Drive, Claimant also keeps your data in your own private iCloud account so it syncs across your devices. That copy is held under Apple's iCloud terms and your Apple ID settings; the developer has no access to it.

The app also makes one small network request, described next.

Third parties

Claimant contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking, and it includes no third-party analytics or advertising code.

It uses one third-party service: open.er-api.com, a public exchange-rate source. Claimant asks it for the current US-dollar-to-Canadian-dollar rate so it can convert amounts in your claim. The request contains none of your information — it asks only for the rate. Nothing else is shared with anyone.

Children

Claimant is intended for adult members of the Canadian Armed Forces. It is not directed at children, and it collects no information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of this page changes with it. There is no mailing list; the version posted here is always the current one.

Not an official government application

Claimant is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official application of the Department of National Defence, the Canadian Armed Forces, or the National Joint Council. The figures it produces are estimates governed by the CFTDTI and NJC directives; confirm your final entitlements with your orderly room.
